Auto Claims

Your car's repair estimate and the actual repair are two different documents

Most auto claim disputes are not arguments about whether damage exists. They are disagreements about how the vehicle should be repaired, what that repair costs, or what the vehicle was worth. Those are estimate and documentation questions — and they are answerable.

Uploading an estimate is a request for review. It is not a coverage determination and no outcome is promised.

A repair estimate is a set of decisions.

Each one can be documented.

Operation times, included versus omitted procedures, part type, refinish times, and methodology are all written choices. When the carrier's estimate and the repairer's estimate differ, the difference is usually traceable line by line.

Auto claim problems we look at

  • The carrier's repair estimate is well below the repair facility's
  • Disagreement over how the vehicle should be repaired
  • Repair versus total-loss disputes
  • Total loss and the valuation behind the offer
  • Comparable-vehicle selection problems
  • Condition adjustments applied to the valuation
  • Mileage adjustments
  • Specialty, luxury, and low-production vehicles
  • Manufacturer repair requirements where they apply and are supportable
  • Photo, measurement, and scan documentation gaps
  • Appraisal, where the policy provides for it

What we ask you to send

The carrier's estimate, any repair facility estimate or supplement, photographs, the valuation report if the vehicle was declared a total loss, and any written correspondence. With those documents we can usually identify where the two positions separate.

What this is not

We do not tell you your claim was underpaid before reading it, and we do not promise a change to any offer. What we can do is analyze the documents, explain what the carrier's numbers appear to be based on, and identify what additional documentation may matter.

Send the estimate and the photos.

We'll compare the written positions, point out what looks unsupported or omitted, and explain what may be worth documenting further.
