Insurance Claim Consulting

Insurance claim consulting when the numbers, documents or decisions don't add up

An insurance claim is a paper case. What gets paid usually traces back to a written estimate, a valuation report, a scope of repairs, a depreciation schedule, a policy provision, or an expert's opinion. Claim consulting is the work of reading those documents closely and identifying what is actually driving the carrier's position.

Submitting information does not create a representation agreement, is not a coverage determination, and is not legal advice.

We don't just read the carrier's number.

We analyze how they got there.

A number on its own tells you almost nothing. The line items behind it — quantities, unit pricing, labor, methodology, depreciation, valuation inputs — are where the difference between two estimates usually lives.

What a claim can actually turn on

Claims rarely come down to a single question. Depending on the loss, any of the following can materially change the outcome, and each one is documented differently.

  • Estimates and how they were written
  • Valuation of property or a vehicle
  • Scope — what work was and was not included
  • Depreciation applied to materials or components
  • Repair methodology and manufacturer procedures
  • Photographs, measurements, and field documentation
  • Policy provisions, endorsements, exclusions, and limits
  • Engineering, cause-and-origin, or other expert reports
  • Appraisal, where the policy provides for it
  • Causation — what damage came from the claimed event
  • Damaged contents, personal property, or equipment
  • Business loss documentation and financial records
  • Correspondence and the claim file's written record

How consulting differs from representation

Consulting is advisory and documentation-focused: reviewing what you have, organizing it, analyzing the carrier's position, and explaining the options. In some jurisdictions and on some claims, the work you actually need is regulated public adjusting — and where that is the case, it is handled as regulated activity, not relabeled as consulting. We classify each claim by claim type and by the service that legally applies.

The pathway depends on the claim

There is no single correct route. After reviewing your documents we may discuss claim consulting, licensed public adjusting where we are licensed and it applies, estimate and scope review, valuation analysis, appraisal support, expert coordination, or a referral where a matter appears to call for counsel or another professional. No pathway is promised before the file has been reviewed.

Send the documents. We'll start with the record.

Estimates, valuation reports, denial letters, photos, correspondence — whatever you have. We'll review it, tell you what may be missing, and explain what the numbers appear to be based on.
